O.M.G! Look.At.That.Face!

OK, so it’s best I tell you from the get go that this is going to be a bit of a rant!

In my previous post How to use the Law of Attraction for weight loss! I touched briefly on the celebrity portrayal of perfection and how, when we, as mere mortals, see these celebs in all their perfect glory it can be a bit overwhelming and disheartening. There seems to be a culture of photo shopping, cropping, editing, filters, botox, veneers, hair extensions and eyelashes that has transformed your average Joe, or Jane, from plain and ordinary to next level, almost unrecognisable, super model beautiful!

I saw a photo on Instagram today of a reality TV star and I almost didn’t recognise her! It was a beautiful picture and I cannot deny that she looked absolutely stunning. However, she had had her make done professionally (no chance of anything other than a perfect complexion), she had been contoured and highlighted to within an inch of her life, she had false eyelashes, coloured contacts, hair extensions that had then been professionally styled, I know she has only recently had her second set of veneers done, she was sprayed tanned, body contoured, very well lit, she was standing in such a way as to highlight all her best features and hide those not so perfect ones and there was at least one filter on the picture! I wont even get started on the botox and lip fillers! Now I can’t tell you how much effort this one photo must have taken but it was put out there as if it was just another bedroom selfie! Now that is what really got my blood boiling.

I have two young daughters who, I know, both follow this particular reality star. The youngest especially looks up to her as a bit of an inspiration. An empowered young woman who has made a name for herself on TV and now has her own range of make-up and fashion accessories. It’s a modern day success story and one that I would normally commend. There is nothing nicer than seeing someone go from nothing to being a successful, young business person, but, I cannot, and do not condone portraying yourself in such a way that it makes your young, impressionable followers feel like they too have to achieve this unrealistic image of perfection!

The girl in question is only young herself and when she first hit our screens was an awkward, slightly plump, very pretty girl. She had nice teeth, lovely hair, a pretty face and a lovely figure. It was obvious she wan’t comfortable in her own skin, but instead of feeling that she could learn to love herself and blossom from a slightly awkward teenager into beautiful a young lady she has ended up having numerous cosmetic procedures, botox, lip fillers, hair extensions, the list goes on and on. The girl is barely in her twenties!

How did we get to this point as a society? Why do our young women feel they need to do all of this to themselves to feel beautiful. How many horror stories have there been about fillers going wrong and people ending up disfigured, surgery leaving people with life changing scars and disfigurements. Young girls left bald where they have worn hair extensions for so long that their natural hair has fallen out. Why do we need to filter and photo shop every photo we post on social media so that the person we portray is barely a reflection of what we really look like. When did we go from whitening our teeth with baking soda toothpaste to having perfectly healthy teeth ground down to stumps and replaced with extreme veneers that look too big for the mouth and are so straight and so white they look like luminous, white gum shields stuck in our mouths.

What message are we sending our children, boys as well as girls. Where does it stop? When is it one filter too far?

We need to teach our young people that, YES, it is OK to be the best version of yourself that you can be. YES, it is good to take care of yourself and strive to present yourself as best you can. But you don’t need to go to the extreme. You don’t need to alter what God gave you. We are all beautiful. We must learn to love ourselves from the inside and then the outside radiates beauty that has no comparison.

I think it is so sad that people in the public eye, especially young people, are made to feel so inadequate in their own skin that they strive to transform themselves beyond recognition. The trouble is that it’s never enough. The botox fades and needs topping up, each time you need more and more. To start at such a young age is so unnecessary. Lip fillers get bigger and bigger. Hair extensions become more and more. Weight loss gets out of control. Teeth are never quite as white as they were when they were first done. Breast implants still sag after time and need a lift or a tweek or maybe even to just go up one more size. The spray tan needs topping up (since when were we sun kissed all year round like we’ve just been to the Maldives for three weeks!)

Let’s make a point to tell each other how special we are. How beautiful we all are in our own individual ways. Let’s promote self love and self care rather than picture perfect idealism. Let’s see if we can turn this culture of perfection around.

How to use the Law of Attraction for weight loss!

Weight management is a huge business in today’s society. Every day there seems to be a new pill or drink to take or a new exercise regime that claims to top all it’s predecessors in it’s weight loss success. Every celebrity (and non-celebrity) has something to say on the subject. Most having their own brand of miracle set to transform us all from mere mortals to uber toned, sleek, god like images of perfection!

Social media is flooded with reality TV stars who started their careers as ‘normal’ people with wobbly bums and tums, natural boobs, faces with bumps in their noses, spots, hair that wasn’t always perfectly blow dried and lips that weren’t inflated like exploding airbags. These ‘stars’ have now miraculously transformed themselves, seemingly over night, into such visions of perfection that it leaves the likes of you and I looking in the mirror ready to buy into anything they want to sell us so we too can achieve this totally unattainable perfection!

They claim to have attained their god like figures through eating and exercise plans that they have developed and can now pass on to you and I, at a cost of course! We can sign up for subscriptions, buy their food supplements and protein drinks, exercise dvd’s, cook books, multi-vitamins, gym wear, hair extensions, eyelashes, make-up……. the list goes on and on!

Yes, they are honest about their journey from hitting rock bottom, being overweight and their struggle in such a cut throat industry but at the end of the day they are still only trying to sell us their products.

Whatever happened to good, honest, healthy eating and exercise? When did the lines get blurred between reality and a snapchat filter?

At forty something I realise that I may no longer be in my prime when it comes to silky smooth, wrinkle free skin. My boobs may be lower than they were ten years ago and my bum may now resemble a deflated balloon. All this I am aware of. I am also aware that if I exercised a bit more, ate a bit healthier and drank a little more water (and a bit less wine) I could feel a little fitter, look a little better and a little younger. However, my little pea brain wants to know why I can’t look like the ‘celebs’ on my Instagram feed! The body dismorphia demon sits on my shoulder as I look in the mirror and whispers sweet (more like sour) nothings into my ear.

“…so and so is the same age as you and look how great she looks…”

“…are you boobs supposed to look like that? Celeb A has a cracking set of knockers and she’s ten years older than you!”

“…how come you can’t eat a burger and have a figure like what’s her face…”

Oh God, the torment goes on and on! What my demented pea brain fails to realise is that ‘so and so’ has a face full of botox, a make up artist, a personal hair dresser and a stylist all at hand to get her TV ready three hours before she goes on air. Or that ‘Celeb A’ has had her knockers lifted, boosted and tweeked more times than anyone cares to recall and ‘what’s her face’ has a stream of personal trainers to kick her butt back into shape after said burger (probably the first proper meal she’s had since 1989! Meoow!).

OK, so that’s a bit harsh. The truth is, as beautiful as these celebs are (and they are most definitely beautiful) they don’t do it alone. They have ‘people’ to do their hair and make-up, they have their wrinkles erased, they have personal trainers and nutritionists and they also don’t work your standard nine to five. Their whole life is scheduled for them. When to eat, sleep, workout, go out, holiday, the list is endless. As glamorous as it all seems it is bloody hard work and they probably have less free time than you and I. Most have an amazing work ethic and sacrifice more than we will ever know to have the ‘celeb’ lifestyle and look we will buy anything achieve.

So how can we achieve our dream bodies and fitness goals?

How can we use the Law of Attraction to lose weight and get fit and healthy?

The answer, the same way we use the Law of attraction to achieve everything else in our lives!

Belief. Visualisation. Affirmation. Commitment. ACTION!

  1. BELIEVE – You must have total faith and belief that you can do this. If there is any doubt in your mind the signals you send out to the universe will be negative. You must keep your thoughts positive and your vibration high so the signals you send out are what you want to get back. REMEMBER, thoughts become things. If you don’t believe you can do it then you have already failed!
  2. VISUALISE – Visualise yourself fit and healthy. Picture what you will look like once you reach your goal. Imagine yourself taking regular exercise and eating healthful foods. Allow your visualisation to create strong feelings of happiness and gratitude at having reached your desired goal. Feel how good you feel and how much you love exercising and eating healthy. Picture yourself in that perfect outfit or looking hot in your bikini! Visualise people complementing you on your success and imagine how that will make you feel. Write your vision down and read it every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to bed until it is so ingrained in your subconscious that it feels like reality.
  3. AFFIRMATION – Say daily affirmations. “I AM fit and healthy”, “I AM at my perfect weight”, “I AM enjoying eating healthy foods every day”, “I love exercising and it makes me feel so happy”, “I love myself, inside and out”, “I am a beautiful person”. REMEMBER it is so important to love yourself inside and out. If you do not learn to love yourself from the inside then it won’t matter what you look like on the outside, you will never be happy. Beauty comes from within. Without self love no amount of healthy eating, exercise or make-up can make you happy. 
  4. COMMITMENT – You must commit to the changes you want to make. Without commitment it is all just an empty dream! Set yourself small, achievable goals. Don’t over commit or you will fall at the first hurdle and give up feeling worse than you did when you started. Small goals are easier to achieve and will give you a real sense of achievement when you reach them. You won’t feel overwhelmed either and are more likely to stick to your plan. Don’t quit, even if you do fall at the first hurdle. Pick yourself up and start over. Remember One small step…..
  5. ACTION – YOU MUST TAKE ACTION! All of the above are empty words without action. The most important step in utilising the Law of Attraction is taking action! The Twelve Laws of the Universe #1

Start today, not tomorrow or next week, or after the weekend or your sisters wedding or you grans birthday. Start right now! Make the decision that you are going to commit to getting fit and healthy right now. Believe you can do it! Visualise! Start your affirmations! Make a commitment, even if it’s just telling someone what you plan to do (you are more likely to stick to something if you tell someone else about it because you then feel committed and won’t want to feel silly by not doing what you said you would). ACT! Start today!

Five Day Feel Good Challenge! #5

Well here we are on our final day. How have you all found the challenge? I hope you have enjoyed it and are feeling good!

It’s surprising what we learn about ourselves when we start to really think about it and put pen to paper.

At the start of the week I asked you all to write down what you wanted to change about your lives. How these changes would make you feel and what your life would be like if these changes actually happened.

On day two I asked you to list what action you needed to take, how you were going to go about taking these actions and to set yourself a time limit for each action. I advised you to break your actions down into smaller, more achievable goals so as not to overwhelm yourself, but also because by taking smaller steps you reach your goals quicker and feel a sense of achievement which spurs you onto the next challenge in reaching your ultimate goal.

Day three was all about gratitude. Standing back and taking notice of the blessings already in your life. This makes you realise how blessed you already are and sends out a higher frequency to the universe, a frequency of gratitude and of having enough. The universe then responds by sending you more people and things to be grateful for! Gratitude is the No.1 factor in utilising the Law of attraction!

Day four was all about giving. My favourite part of the week so far! There is no nicer feeling than knowing you have helped make someone else’s day a little better in some small way or another. I was at the supermarket yesterday and there were no trolley’s. An older man saw me looking for a trolley and gave me his before getting himself another one. He didn’t have to do it, but he did. It was a small, random act of kindness that made my day just a little bit easier. What the man didn’t know was that I was really in a lot of pain and that small act of kindness meant I didn’t have to walk right to the other end of the car park to find a trolley. As it was I bumped into him again several times whilst doing my shopping and had some very pleasant conversation with him in the queue at the checkout. He was a lovely, cheery gentleman and he made my normally humdrum shopping experience all the more enjoyable. I left the supermarket with a renewed faith in humanity and continued my day doing as many random acts of kindness as I could!

Moral of the story……… random acts of kindness cost nothing but mean so much!

So, back to today. Today I want you to look back at all your worksheets from this week. The beginning of the week may have felt like a bit of a struggle, especially day two! But by today you should be filled with a renewed sense of joy having spent the last two days concentrating on your blessings and sharing with your fellow-man.

I want you to use that joy to raise your vibration and set your frequency to HIGH! Use the momentum to drive you forward with the plan you set out in day two. Start today to take those action steps towards your ultimate goal.

As those of you who read my blog regularly will know, one of my dreams is to write a book. So to make this dream a reality I broke down my action steps into smaller more achievable/believable goals. I took the advice of the ever inspiring Jack Canfield and decided to write a page a day. This is an achievable goal, it does not fill me with fear and dread that I am going to miss my deadline and fail at the first hurdle. I don’t feel overwhelmed by having to write a whole chapter in one sitting. It is something I know is possible and I can fit into my day no matter how busy I am. Nine times out of ten I write much more than one page and this just spurs me on because I feel that not only have I achieved what I set out to achieve that day but I also exceeded my target. Each day I can see my pages slowly developing into a book. My dream is slowly coming together one page at a time. All those feelings I wrote about on day one are starting to manifest. I have moments of inspiration every day. With each page I write I can feel myself moving closer and closer to where I want to be. My book is just one of the things on my ‘dream’ list but as I see this dream unfolding my faith in God and the universe increases and I feel that I can achieve anything.

Start your dream life today and see how much you can achieve. Dream big. Nothing is off-limits. We can all be, do and have anything we want in life but we must take responsibility, take action and have unconditional belief and faith, not only in the universe to deliver but in ourselves and our own abilities!

Five Day Feel Good Challenge! #1

We all know that in order to manifest anything into our lives we must first align ourselves with the thing we want to manifest. By this, I mean we must first be on the same vibrational frequency. We cannot manifest anything good into our lives if our vibration is low and set to negative! 9 Ways to raise your vibration

Most of us have our minds set on our dreams and goals. We know what we want out of life and what our life would be like if we could manifest anything we wanted. We spend countless hours day dreaming about all the good things in life and how our lives would be if by some miracle everything just fell into place and our fairy godmother waved her magic wand and made it all come true! However, more often than not, we don’t really believe that we can have all those wonderful things we dream about. We convince ourselves that it is just a dream and that dreams don’t come true. Well, I’m here to tell you that dreams can come true and they do for thousands of people every day!

Over the next five days I’m going to be setting you a number challenges to help you realise what it is you truly want in life, how you would feel if your dreams became a reality and what you need to do to make it happen!

I have created some worksheets to help you along the way and to make it as easy a possible for you to get it clear in your head about what you want. You will have one worksheet to complete each day (don’t worry they really are easy and a bit of fun). So here’s today’s worksheet. Five Day Feel Good Challenge Worksheet 1

Here are a few pointers to help you:

  1. When writing about the three things you would change in your life be as specific as possible. Use detail, give reasons. Really think about what you want to change and why.
  2. How would you feel? Think about question one and why you want these things to change. Think about the difference in your life when these changes manifest and how that will effect you. Be detailed when writing about your feelings. Conjure up those feelings and emotions in yourself as you write them.
  3. Visualise how your life will be when you manifest these changes. Write in detail as if you were describing your life to a stranger. Write in the present tense as if it is already your reality.

Have fun with it. If you can’t print off the worksheet just use a plain sheet of paper. It’s not about where you write your dreams, it’s about what you write and about getting into the belief mindset.

You can do this. Just believe in yourself and in your dreams. These worksheets are going to show you how you are going to do it and, hopefully, give you the motivation and faith to move forward and start believing in yourself.

I cannot believe he didn’t say thank you!Grrr….

How many times have you let another driver ruin your day?

How many times have you been on the commute to work or the school run and allowed the actions of another person to put you in a bad mood?

Do you feel ‘slighted’ when you let someone out of a turning and they don’t say thank you?

Does your ‘good deed’ then turn into a feeling of resentment that you let such an inconsiderate, bad mannered person out instead of just going by and leaving them stuck?

What right do we have to feel affronted that they didn’t say thank you?

It is not our God given right that when we do a good deed the other person should show their gratitude?

Who are we to judge?

Gratitude, who rather the showing of gratitude is a man made courtesy. We, as humans, have programmed ourselves to think that if we do something for another then they should show gratitude by saying “thank you”. Yes, I agree, it is something that I feel not enough people do, and as a society we should strive to ‘bring back’ good manners. However, it is not our right! We have no right to expect a show of gratitude from another person. Just because they did not put their hand up as they drove off to say thank you, does not mean that they weren’t grateful.

Also, do we do good deeds to receive thanks and praise? If so then the deed is not so good after all. It is merely a means to us making ourselves feel better, hence we feel slighted when we do not receive the gratification we feel we deserve. Good deeds are for the benefit of the other person, making their lives a little easier or better, not for us to receive an ego boost for being such a ‘good’ person!

If you give with an open heart and expect nothing in return then the universe will reward you. That is reward enough. Do not allow another’s actions to ruin your good intentions. Getting angry by a persons lack of ‘manners’ only results in you having a bad day. Once you allow the resentment of your good actions to seep into your thoughts then you stop noticing the good in everything else around you and instead focus on the perceived mindless, inconsiderate actions of your fellow man.

The supermarket is a classic example of what I’m talking about. How often do we step aside to let someone by with their trolley only for them to walk past without even looking in our direction, let alone being polite enough to say ‘thank you’ or even send a smile our way! We then spend the rest of the visit grumbling to ourselves about the ‘lack of good manners now days’. I bet some of you have even then gone out of your way to obstruct the other persons path when you’ve met them in the next isle, making them wait until you are good and ready to get out of the way??? Come on, we’ve all done it lol.

Here in the UK we are especially fond of manners. Some may say we are even a bit OTT when it comes to having good manners. We get frustrated when we are on holiday at others apparent lack of manners, when in fact they just come from a different country and culture with different traditions and etiquette. They are not being bad mannered, we just perceive them to be because they don’t fit into our ideal behaviour.

I have to admit that in recent times there is definitely a rapid decline in social etiquette and politeness. Everyone seems to be in far too much of a hurry too have time for the simple things in life like please and thank you. Now there is an expectation that it is our right to be let out of turnings or into a lane on the motorway. We think people should get out of our way in the supermarket isle. What right do they have to block our path? What happened to common courtesy and living harmoniously with one another?

I guess that the only way to change things is to lead by example. Carry on with your good deeds, give generously, but give without expectation. Give for the sake of giving and making another person happy. This act in itself is thanks enough.

So the next time you let someone out while driving along or move aside in the supermarket isle, don’t feel despondent or resentful if the other person doesn’t show appreciation, just go about your business knowing that your small act of gratitude will come back to you when you need it most. The universe is always listening and responding to our actions.


One final thought. We never know the lives or circumstances of another, therefore we cannot judge their actions. We also don’t know how much our small act of kindness may have changed their whole day. Think instead of giving as a small act of love and your heart will be filled with joy and you will be eternally rich.

Manifesting challenge!

Hi everyone. I hope I find you all well. I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while but like the Virgo I am I have been procrastinating due to lack of self belief. I don’t know why I do it to myself as it goes against everything I teach others. I guess that’s another of my limiting traits, I can easily see the best in others and help them work on their weaknesses to turn them into strengths but when it comes to myself I throw all that I have learnt out of the window and revert back to limiting beliefs! 

So because of my inability to take my own advice I thought we could do a little manifesting challenge together. I’ve done this before with people I work with and it has always given them the lift they needed to move forward and try to manifest bigger and better changes in their lives. Sometimes we just need a little ‘proof’ to reignite our faith.

So, let’s go!

STEP 1: Think of something that you want to manifest. Something small like a lucky penny or a four leaf clover, maybe a white feather or a Robin, something that resembles luck or spiritual guidance. Close your eyes and visualise your item. Imagine what it looks like, what it feels like or sounds like. Imagine how you will feel when you see it. Just spend a few minutes focusing on whatever it is you have chosen.

STEP 2: Let it go. Send it out into the Universe and trust that it will come back to you. Know that it is already manifested and just waiting for you to cross its path. Release any thoughts of doubt, just let go………..

STEP 3: Go about your business as usual. Forget all about the challenge. Let the Universe do it’s work.

STEP 4: Use the comments section below or the email address in my contact section to let me know when you cross paths with what it is you visualised. The Twelve Laws of the Universe #5

Hello again everyone. I hope I find you all well?

I hope you have all had a chance to read the other four posts in this series, if not you can catch up on them using the links at the end of this post. I have had some really positive emails and comments about this series so far and look forward to hearing more from you all.

In today’s post I will be looking at the Law of Relativity and the Law of Polarity. Some of you may already be familiar with these Laws but for those of you who are not let us explore further.

The Law of Relativity

The Law of Relativity teaches us to compare our problems to the problems of others. What may appear like a catastrophic event to us, when compared to the problem of another, suddenly pails into insignificance. Things begin to be put into perspective. As my mum always said:

“There is always someone worse off.”

Now I know that sounds harsh, looking for someone who is worse off than you to make yourself feel better, but that is not the meaning of this Law. The point is that no matter how bad a situation seems to you, there will always be someone in a worse situation, thus making your problem seem not so bad after all.

For example; we look at our busy lives and complain that we have little time to socialise or relax, yet when compared to someone in one of the third world countries, for example, you begin to realise how lucky we are in our western society. Everything is relative. In our modern world we have become so obsessed with technology and material possessions, we have lost site of the simple things in life and forgotten how blessed we are to have running water, food in our bellies and a roof over our head. We are not in war torn cities, fearing for our lives, not knowing where our next meal is coming from. Our main concern is that we might lose internet connection for a few minutes!!!

Everything only exists because it is made real by it’s comparison to something else:

  • Light vs dark
  • Hot vs cold
  • Good vs evil
  • Big vs small

It is all relative. It is all about how we relate it to something else.

You may think you don’t have enough money until you compare yourself to someone else. To them you may appear rich as they have far less than you. The Law of Relativity says we should stop comparing ourselves to those who have far more than us because this only serves to make us have feelings of lack. These feelings of lack are sent out into the Universe as vibrations of what we want more of so we will be sent more things to make us feel we don’t have enough (bills, debt etc.)

By comparing ourselves to those less fortunate than us we begin to appreciate how lucky we really are and how blessed our lives are. We begin to be grateful for what we do have, therefore sending out feelings of abundance and gratitude. Our vibrations become positive and the Universe will send us more things to be grateful for, more abundance!

This Law reminds us that what we believe we have is all relative in comparison to someone or something else. We can use it to our advantage or to our disadvantage, depending on our outlook.

There will always be someone who has more than you, someone who can run faster than you, is smarter than you. But in comparison there will always be someone who has less than you, runs slower than you or is not as smart as you. Look at what you have and be thankful. Be positive about your situation. Look for the good in everything.

It’s all about how you look at the world around you!

If you are grateful for what you have now you will always have enough because the Universe will ensure you always have things to be grateful for.

The Law of Polarity

Nothing is one sided. There are two sides, or poles, to everything. Everything has an opposite. The difference in between the two extremes is called polarity.

Everything has an opposite.

The Law of Polarity states that opposites are just different manifestations of the same thing.

Sir Isaac Newton said that:

“every action has and equal, and opposite, reaction”

The purpose of the Universe is equilibrium and synchronicity. It is said that love and hate are actually the same emotion. For how can you hate someone you have never truly loved. Only someone you love can stir such emotion in you to cause you to hate them because only the actions of someone you love could hurt you so deeply that the love could turn to hate.

The Law of Polarity enables us to experience life at it’s fullest. Without experiencing one thing how can we appreciate another?

How can you appreciate heat if you have never experienced cold?

How can you appreciate abundance if you have never experienced struggle?

  • Love vs hate
  • Hot vs cold
  • Good vs bad
  • Big vs small
  • Failure vs success

All things work together. Without one you cannot have the other. Therefore, all things, good and bad, success and failure, abundance and austerity must work for the higher good.

All is Love

Sometimes you have to experience adversity to appreciate prosperity, sadness to appreciate joy. The Law is there to teach us. To help us learn and discover.

In every failure we find success

If Thomas Edison had not failed he would never have invented the light bulb and we’d all be sitting in the dark! If it had not been dark he would never have tried in the first place!

Every situation is only ‘good’or ‘bad’ by how we perceive it. Something you consider to be bad another may think is good. Take a step back, look again, is it as bad as you first thought? Is there a lesson to be learnt?

Every one of us is sent a series of lessons. We must learn from these lessons before we can move forward. If we do not learn then the lesson will keep manifesting in different ways until we learn what is has been sent to teach us.

Look for the positive in EVERY situation!

By looking for the good in all situations we will learn our lessons quicker and progress faster.

The same is true for people. Always look for the good in everyone. Positive thoughts create positive energy and send out good vibrations to the Universe and as we know the Universe then sends back more things to be positive about!

You can see that, as with the other Laws we have looked at, there are strong similarities in these two Laws. The general thread through all the Laws is the same. It is about working with all the Laws to achieve our dreams. At first this sounds daunting but as you learn more about each Law you realise that they are all interconnected and work seamlessly together.Please check out the other posts in this series below:
